GoNetspeed Announces Completion of Fiber Internet Project in Naugatuck

Construction of the 100 percent fiber optic network began in August 2022 and was completed November 2022

NAUGATUCK, Conn. (December 20, 2022) – GoNetspeed, a leading fiber internet service provider in the Northeast, announced today the completion of its 100 percent fiber optic network in Naugatuck, Connecticut. GoNetspeed’s $4.5 million investment into the community provides residents and businesses with access to GoNetspeed’s high-speed fiber internet service.

The build covers nearly 66.5 miles and offers service to over 8,189 homes and businesses.

“We’re so excited to announce the completion of our new fiber optic network and bring reliable, high-speed internet to Naugatuck,” said Tom Perrone, GoNetspeed’s Senior Vice President of Network Operations and General Manager of Connecticut. “The GoNetspeed team recognizes the importance of connection in today’s increasingly digital world. That’s why we’re committed to expanding access to fiber internet service for communities like Naugatuck to utilize at home and work.”

“GoNetspeed is working hard to build new networks and bring gigabit fiber internet to more communities than ever before,” said GoNetspeed CEO Richard Clark. “We look forward to delivering more access to fiber internet, better speeds and reliability, and unparalleled customer service in the Northeast U.S.”

Residents interested in the service can visit www.gonetspeed.com to check availability. GoNetspeed offers customers a free router, and monthly plans start at $39.95. GoNetspeed also participates in the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which provides eligible households a maximum of $30 per month toward service.

What is Fiber Internet?

Fiber Internet offers symmetrical speeds, meaning that both download and upload are equally fast. The connectivity challenges people experience with video conferencing associated with telecommuting, online learning, and telemedicine have emphasized the importance of fast upload speeds. GoNetspeed offers the fastest residential Internet speeds, ranging from 250 Mbps to 1 Gbps (1,000 Mbps). For businesses, GoNetspeed can customize speeds beyond Gigabit capability if necessary.
