New High-Speed Fiber Internet Provider Coming to Cheektowaga, Depew and Lancaster

BUFFALO, New York (July 20, 2022) – The Buffalo area will soon have a new Internet service provider to choose from. GoNetspeed, a high-speed fiber Internet provider, has begun building their network in portions of Cheektowaga, Depew and Lancaster.

This 100% fiber optic network will offer internet service with symmetrical speeds, meaning that both download and upload are equally fast. GoNetspeed offers no data caps, no throttling, and the fastest residential Internet speeds available, ranging from 250 Mbps to 1 Gbps (1,000 Mbps). Unlike cable Internet or DSL, fiber optics provides unlimited scalability by creating a network that is future proof – as the need for speed increases and technology continues to advance, the network can adjust and scale to the need. For businesses, GoNetspeed can customize speeds beyond Gigabit capability if necessary.

“We are excited to start this initial round of construction for these communities – and this is just the beginning,” commented Paul Griswold, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and General Manager of New York. “We’re happy to be bringing access to high-speed fiber Internet to members of the community, as well as building out our workforce here.”

GoNetspeed has plans to build high-speed fiber Internet in other Buffalo-area communities, including thousands of additional locations in Cheektowaga. The company leases an office space in the Village of Depew and expects to employ as many as 65 people in the region over the next three years.

GoNetspeed offers a free Wi-Fi 6 router (which delivers speeds that are 40% higher than Wi-Fi 5), no installation charges, no contracts, and plans starting at $49.95 a month. The construction, customer service, and technical support teams are based at locations in New York state and have been recognized by many customers for their friendly and responsive nature. The company also participates in the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) which provides eligible households a maximum of $30 per month toward service.

“Having GoNetspeed bring both Internet connectivity and additional jobs to our community is a win-win,” said Kevin Peterson, Mayor of Depew. “Connectivity is so important to our residents who rely on the Internet in their daily life for things like remote work, on-line learning, and telemedicine. The infrastructure and reliability GoNetspeed is bringing to our community is key. We are also pleased they participate in the ACP which will help close the digital divide for some of our residents.”

Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro has also expressed excitement for this project. “I’m thankful for all the public and private coordination that has been done to make this project a reality. It’s amazing to see the fiber internet infrastructure being built in our community while more jobs are being created at the same time. This isn’t only about access to the Internet; it is an investment in our community’s future.”

A ribbon cutting at the new GoNetspeed office is being planned for Wednesday, July 27th 12:00pm-1:30pm with the Mayor of Depew, Cheektowaga and Depew Chambers at 2371 George Urban Boulevard in Depew.
